Trunk: This gray trunk can reach 4-6 feet in diameter
Growth: Slow
Water requirements: Medium (winter), Low (summer)
Fruit: Fruits look like tiny coconuts, "Coquitos", or by the 1915 trade "monkey's coconuts".

Etymology: after Juba, king of Numidia.
Suggested field trip: to see (possibly) the largest Chilean wine palms in the state at Shinn Park. Shinn Park is just across Alameda Creek from the old California Nursery grounds. This youtube video will tell you about the Shinn palms. They are huge! They were planted around 1878.
